About The Retiree Report
The Retiree Report publishes plain-English explainers on the topics that matter most to Americans aged 50 and over: Medicare, Social Security, retirement income, taxes, health care, consumer scams, and the practical questions that come with this stage of life.
We aren't selling you anything except the time it takes to understand a complicated system. Our editorial team writes by reading the primary sources directly — government rules from CMS, SSA, IRS, CDC, and FDA, plus reporting from the Associated Press, Reuters, KFF, AARP, and Mayo Clinic. We link the sources we use so you can verify any number we cite.
Editorial standards
Every article goes through this checklist before publication: at least three independent authoritative sources, every dollar amount or deadline verified against an official source, every cited URL fetched and confirmed to load and match the claim, and a clear note when a number is from the most recently published year if the current-year figure is not yet released.
For health, finance, tax, and legal topics, we publish general information. We do not give individualized advice, and we always direct readers to a licensed professional for decisions about their own situation.
Funding and independence
This site is reader-supported. We earn revenue through display advertising and qualifying affiliate purchases (mainly Amazon Associates). Affiliate links never determine what we cover or how. Editorial decisions are made independently of any commission.
Corrections
